Premier League club Brentford, has successfully secured the signing of highly-regarded Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flekken from Bundesliga side Freiburg. The announcement was made by the club on Wednesday, May 31, revealing that Flekken has committed to a four-year contract with his new team.
While the specific financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, both British and German media sources have reported that Brentford paid Freiburg’s release clause, amounting to an estimated 13 million euros ($14.31 million). With this significant investment, the 29-year-old goalkeeper is expected to take on the role previously held by David Raya, providing a boost to Brentford’s defensive lineup.
His impressive performance throughout the recently concluded season saw him top the Bundesliga charts with an impressive tally of 13 clean sheets in 34 matches.
Brentford, under the guidance of manager Frank, concluded their second Premier League campaign by securing a respectable ninth-place finish.
