EFCC has arrested the former managing director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Nsima Ekere. He is alleged to have been involved in a contract fraud of over 47 billion naira.
The Ex MD had relinquished himself to the Lagos branch of EFCC on Wednesday. The commission said they have been carrying out investigations on him for years and as soon as he realized that they almost getting close to catching him he decided to give up himself.
Mr. Ekere is said to be checked for fraud in contract inflation and fake contracts during his period as the managing director of NDDC. He is also accused of laundering money from NDDC’s accounts to acquire properties in States across the country.
The EFCC is taking their jobs seriously as he is not the only public or civil servant that had been arrested recently. Mrs. Patricia Etteh, the former house of reps speaker, and Mr. Ahmed Idris, the accountant General were also arrested recently by the commission on alleged fraudulent practices.
