Fatade Olamilekan, a fraud suspect accused of defrauding $3.5 million, was successfully extradited to the United States, according to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The defendant, who was wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, was extradited on Thursday, July 14, 2022, for allegedly stealing equipment worth $3.5 million from several cities around the US, according to a statement titled “$3.5M Fraud: EFCC Extradites FBI Wanted Internet Fraud Suspect to the US.”
The EFCC arranged his extradition after receiving a notice from the FBI, New York, via the US Legal Attache regarding his role in impersonating numerous American cities, states, and academic institutions.
Fatade was charged with wire fraud, interstate transportation of stolen property, and identity theft by a grand jury in the southern district of New York.
