The Egyptian government has invited Sweden’s chargé d’affaires to castigate incidents where reprints of the Islamic holy book, the Koran have been burned. The foreign ministry’s spokesperson had released a statement on Tuesday, July 25, confirming the move.
Five anti-Islam activists had earlier today, set fire to a Koran in front of the Egyptian embassy and the Swedish embassy in Copenhagen on Tuesday. This will make it the third of such incident, happening in Denmark, in less than a week, after incidents of Koran burnings had happened in nearby Sweden.
Meanwhile, the Egyptian government had informed the chargé d’affaires of its “severe condemnation and total rejection of the unfortunate and repeated incidents of abuse and burning of copies of the Holy Koran.
