El-Rufai Denies PDP Rumors, Threatens Legal Action

Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, has taken to social media to shoot down the latest rumor claiming that he has left the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He swiftly dismissed the claims, calling them “patent lies” and accusing the rumor mongers of causing unnecessary drama.

The former governor’s camp was quick to call out the rumor as a product of “mischief makers.” According to a close aide speaking to Channels Television, the idea that El-Rufai would switch parties without making an official announcement is laughable. After all, he’s not just any politician, he’s a prominent figure who enjoys the spotlight, so the notion of him decamping can’t happen quietly.

El-Rufai wasn’t about to let this rumor linger for long. He took to his verified X (formerly Twitter) handle to tell his followers to “disregard the patent lies” about his political affiliations. He didn’t stop there, making it clear that he wasn’t simply going to let the false claims slide. “I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” El-Rufai declared. The former governor is very serious on this one, no tolerance for fake news, and definitely no tolerance for anyone trying to mess with his political reputation.

Let’s be honest here how much energy are we going to continue wasting on these childish rumours? El-Rufai, the supposed master strategist, and his lawyers could be channeling their energy into more pressing matters than answering baseless rumors. The truth is, most of us would rather see El-Rufai and others in his league focus on, I don’t know, actual charity or something that contributes to the welfare of the people
