On Monday, November 7, Olukayode Ariwoola, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), will set up Election Petition Tribunals to investigate and evaluate petitions that could result from the conduct of the general elections in 2023. The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongbam, has chosen carefully over 400 Judges from State and Federal High Courts to serve on the panel.
Festus Akande, the Supreme Court’s Director of Information and Press, revealed that the Tribunals’ inauguration would take place at the National Judicial Institute (NJI) rather than the customary Apex Court location. He explained that the NJI’s Andrews Otutu Obaseki Auditorium was taken into consideration due to the significant number of tribunal members anticipated to attend the 9 am inauguration ceremony.
