Billionaire investor Elon Musk ridiculed Microsoft on social media in response to recent widespread IT failures affecting many industries. The technical issue is linked to cybersecurity from CrowdStrike’s tool, which has caused interference for airlines, banks, retailers and healthcare centers.
Elon, owner of X (formerly Twitter), posted a laughing emoji in response to a trending meme mocking the situation. The meme’s caption which is a sarcastic, reads, “ Everything else is down, but this app still works.” The outage has left some Windows users unable to work with their system or access software application.
Expert in cybersecurity and managing director of Bores Group, James Bores, attributed the outage to a technical defect in CrowdStrike’s Falcon tool, requiring a manual reboot to resolve.
However, the CEO of CrowdStrike has assured that the firm is working to ensure that affected customers get reconnected as soon as possible.
