Police officials in Jigawa State have nabbed 55 protesters for purported vandalism and looting of both private and government properties.
The state police spokesman, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, had confirmed the arrest via a statement he issued to news reporters.
This arrest is coming after the #EndBadGovernance Protests which began on Thursday resulted in the deaths of two people and left a lot more people injured.
He further explained that some of the items recovered from the protesters include 35 motorcycles, 3 tricycles, 12 bicycles, 111 bags of fertilizer, a yet to be specified number of chairs and 40 cartons of mosquito nets.
The now detained suspects are accused of trespassing at the Hadejia LG Secretariat, razing six parked vehicles, destroying JASCO store outlets and stealing fertilizer and foodstuffs in Gumel Local Government Area.
In addition, the suspects were accused of setting fire to the house of National Assembly member Hon. Nazifi Sani, destroying the NITDA office, and looting the APC state secretariat before setting it on fire.
