Everybody Knows I and Chioma Didn’t Deserve That- Davido on Ifeanyi’s Death

Popular Afrobeats Artist, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido has finally spoken about his son’s death Ifeanyi Adeleke.

If we can recall, Ifeanyi Adeleke died last year, after drowning in the swimming pool in Davido’s house at Lekki while he and Chioma were away in Ibadan.

After his son’s death, Davido stayed off social media for a while and then returned by releasing his much-anticipated album “timeless” on May 31st.

Speaking on CNN, in an interview, Davido revealed that he had already finished the album before Ifeanyi died, it was a traumatizing situation and he had to take some time off, as the death of his son weighed him down, as no one deserved such.

So he left Instagram for weeks but decided to check it one day, and he saw overwhelming messages from friends and fans all over the world, that encouraged him to be strong enough to rise back to his feet and get into the studio to do music again.

“Before my son passed, we had finished the album. But it was a tragic situation and I had to calm myself down and take a step back.

“Nobody would want that, and everybody knows that I and Chioma didn’t deserve that. At some point, I couldn’t open my Instagram for weeks.

“One day, I just checked it and I saw messages from every kind of person in the world. I was like ‘you’re fine, you see everybody is rooting for you.’ That was one thing that made me strong enough to stand up again, get back in the studio, and do what I love.”
