Several vehicles have just been confiscated from the home of the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Bello Matawalle, in Gusau, the state capital.
According to sources, Matawalle’s SUVs had been impounded during a raid on his GRA abode in Gusau, on Friday, June 9.
As of the time of writing this report, the number of confiscated vehicles are still yet to be confirmed but a source has stated that the number was close to four.
Police officials were reported to have stormed the former governor’s residence, a stone’s throw from Government House, Gusau.
Meanwhile, efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO in Zamfara State, ASP Yazdi Abubakar proved abortive.
Additionally, Zailani Bappa, the Special Adviser on Public Enlightenment, Media and Communication to Matawalle could not be reached.
Recall that Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara had accused Matawalle of leaving office with 17 government-owned vehicles and properties including television sets and cookers from the state government house.
Governor Lawal had then on Saturday, June 3, given Matawalle an ultimatum of five days to return the vehicles reportedly taken away by officials of his administration.
