A Kenyan former tourism minister has been apprehended and dragged to court over corruption claims.
Najib Balala, and other former officials are being accused of exaggerating the cost of erecting a tourism college in the coastal county of Kilifi.
They have yet to make a comment, regarding the allegations that they took irregular payments worth $119m (apprx. £94m).
Balala is the first former minister to be nabbed since William Ruto was elected into office in 2022, with the promise to tackle corruption.
Balala had served as the tourism minister for 12 years for three successive governments.
Detectives have said that they are on the hunt for more suspects in the case.
