Alleged arsonists have reportedly detonated explosives at the Rivers State secretariat of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), in Port Harcourt.
This alarming incident had occurred on Saturday morning, a few hours to the Local Government election in the state.
According to video clips making rounds on social media, the explosive incident, suspected to be from dynamites, had destroyed the main gate and the security house of the APC secretariat, and several areas of an adjoining building.
Chief Tony Okocha, the State caretaker committee chairman of the main opposition party, had confirmed this to LEADERSHIP newspaper.
Okocha had even further accused supporters of Governor Siminalayi Fubara of initiating the attack on the secretariat.
Okocha had written:
“At the wee hours of Saturday, pro-Fubara civilian soldiers detonated dynamites at our office.
“The second attempt to set it ablaze was foiled as the security at the gate quickly put out the fire.”
