Nollywood actress Faithia Williams has announced the passing of her mother, revealing that the tragic loss occurred just a day before the party held to mark her 55th birthday.
The film star shared the heartbreaking news in an emotional Instagram post on Monday, explaining that while she celebrated with friends and loved ones on Sunday, she was unaware that her mother had already passed on. According to her, the family deliberately withheld the information until after the celebration.
In her tribute, Faithia described her late mother as her “cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner,” noting that she was “an invaluable gift of a mother.”
“Dear friends, it was my 55th birthday on Thursday, February 5. However, I chose to have a party yesterday, Sunday,” she wrote.
“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party, and the news was cruelly kept away from me.
“The reality of her passing has not totally dawned on me because she was my cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner wrapped in the invaluable gift of a mother.”
Although she did not reveal the cause of death, the actress said the family has chosen to maintain privacy during this difficult time, while also requesting prayers and support.
“Whilst I have taken solace in Allah (SWT), the Williams’ family has decided to keep things very private for now,” she stated.
“Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later.”
The sad development comes less than two years after Faithia lost her father, whose death she announced in April 2024.
