Contentious Nigerian media personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, aka Daddy Freeze, has sounded the alarm of a famine that is brewing in the country.
According to Daddy Freeze, the Naira would keep depreciate as long as Nigeria wasn’t exporting enough commodities to gain hard currencies in return.
He thereafter advised Nigerians who were earning poor wages in the cities to return to their villages and go into farming in a bid to combat the famine that was looming.
Making this claim via a video message that was shared on his social media page recently, Daddy Freeze had said:
“We will keep seeing the decline in our currency because we are not exchanging anything and getting hard currencies in return. This issue needs to be fixed by two sets of people: the government and the citizen.
“Citizens, if you’re working in Lagos and you’re earn N50,000 monthly, I think it is about time you went back to your village, purchase some land and began farming. There’s a brewing possibility of a famine in Nigeria. There’s just not enough food to go around.
“From my understanding of the situation, here is my advice:
More factories need to be built and the government needs to support you. The government needs to do whatever it takes so that your businesses can succeed.“By business, I mean businesses with export targets. Whatever one is producing should be exported. We import milk from France and Denmark. We cannot rely on only oil. The government needs to support local manufacturers.”
