The Federal Capital Territory, FCT Police Command, has reacted to the worsening security situation in the nation’s capital.
The command had via a statement issued on Sunday, October 8, by its spokesperson, Josephine Abeg confirmed that kidnapping cases have been on the rise in the capital city as of recent.
The PPRO had said that some of the abducted victims, through the efforts of the personnel of the command, had been rescued and reunited with their family members.
Also the PPRO had revealed that about 11 suspected kidnappers have been arrested within a month of intensive efforts. She had also stressed that investigation was ongoing to guarantee that the other members of the criminal gang, presently at large, were also arrested.
The general public had meanwhile, been informed to disregard some of the news reports emerging about the level of insecurity in the region as some of them were highly misleading and could create tension and cause panic.
The statement partly reads,
“The Commissioner of Police in FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba, wishes to reaffirm the Command’s unwavering commitment to protecting the lives and property of all and making sure that the residents of the FCT have peace of mind and sleep with their eyes closed.”
“Members of the public are therefore urged to provide information to the police. In doing so, you may be saving someone’s life and property.”
