Female Suicide Bomber Targets Wedding in Gwoza, Killing Six and Injuring Fifteen

A devastating suicide bombing occurred in Gwoza town, Borno State, claiming six lives and injuring 15 others. The injured victims were swiftly evacuated to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Official Confirmation

Yusuf Lawal, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the attack, identifying the perpetrator as a female suicide bomber. The explosion took place at a bustling motor park known as Marrarraban Gwoza.

Eyewitness Accounts

Eyewitnesses reported that the attack happened around 1:30 PM, targeting a wedding celebration. Mr. Buba, one of the witnesses, described how the attack shattered the joy and celebration of the special day, leaving families and loved ones in mourning.

Another witness, Mr. Mohammed, recounted, “We heard a loud sound of explosives, accompanied with dust; then we saw bodies on the ground.” He added that several victims were taken to the hospital and security agencies were deployed to secure the area.
