To commemorate Workers’ Day this year, the Federal Government has designated Monday, May 1, a public holiday.
In a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Shuaib Belgore, the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, proclaimed on behalf of the Federal Government.
He wished all of the country’s employees a happy Labor Day and praised them for their tenacity, toil, perseverance, and sacrifice.
Aregbesola stated that their contributions are crucial to the dignity and greatness of the nation.
The Minister asserts that “work is a noble pursuit. Due to the importance of their contributions to the development of the country and the African Renaissance, the country will continue to honor its workers’ devotion and dedication to their jobs.
Aregbesola advised employees to adopt the productivity culture, noting that productivity is the goal of work. Productivity is what creates value, ensures that goods and services are delivered satisfactorily, and creates wealth. Consequently, it is the road to both national and personal prosperity.
The Minister informed the workers that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari is committed to ensuring the security of every citizen and visitor to the nation while urging them to elevate the bar of their profession.
The Minister praised all security organizations for their achievements in the war against crime around the nation and urged them not to give up.
He pleaded with Nigerians to be watchful and alert local law enforcement to any suspicious people or activity.
