The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved spending N24.20 billion to install broadband infrastructure in markets, airports, and educational institutions across Nigeria.
The project will benefit 43 institutions, according to Isa Pantami, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, and the airports are from the six geopolitical zones.
The FEC previously provided N17.4 billion for a related initiative that covered the nation’s higher education institutions as well as micro, small, and medium-sized businesses.
With the current approval, the project’s second phase, 20 airports, and 43 institutions will benefit from broadband service for N18.95 billion, while six markets will pay N5.25 billion for the service.
