The Federal Government said that it had started working to solve the brain drain in the healthcare industry. It stated that Nigeria was not the first country to experience an outflow of medical personnel.
Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, said this while inaugurating seven projects at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State capital.
The minister added that President Muhammadu Buhari had established a solid framework on which the health sector could continue to create enduring institutions.
The construction of these specially designed facilities, according to him, will increase our ability to meet the demands of our patient population in both ordinary service delivery and any public health emergency.
Earlier, Prof. Abiodun Otegbayo received a letter from Ehanire reaffirming his appointment as the Chief Medical Director of UCH for an additional four years.
In his remarks, Otegbayo stated that the projects served as a metaphor for the significant actions the President has made over the years to reposition the delivery of healthcare services to Nigerians.
