The Federal Government has just received 108 Nigerian migrants forsaken in the neighbouring country, Niger Republic.
Alexander Oturu, the Southwest Zonal Coordinator, National Commission For Refugees Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons, NCFRMI, had made this revelation via a statement issued on Tuesday, October 24 in Abuja.
According to the Refugee commission, the Nigerians received had included 32 males, 29 females, 44 children and three babies.
Oturu had revealed that the return was enabled by the Nigerian Mission in Niamey and the IOM.
Oturu had said:
“The migrants were carried to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LSEMA, camp where the NCFRMI and International Organisation for Migration, IOM, had a tripartite agreement to give temporary shelter for the returnees before they are provided with an onward transportation allowance to aid them get to their final destinations.”
