While celebrating Nigeria’s victory in the tense semi-final against South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the community of Kwara State University (KWASU) is mourning the sudden passing of their Deputy Bursar, Mr. Ayuba Olaitan Abdullahi.
Mr. Abdullahi, described as a healthy and lively individual, tragically passed away after watching the match at a nearby sports center. Sources report that he watched the entire game with enthusiasm, but towards the end, when emotions ran high during the penalty shoot-out, he complained of feeling unwell. Sadly, despite being rushed to the hospital, Mr. Abdullahi couldn’t be saved.
This sad event serves as a reminder that, while celebrating exciting matches is important, taking care of our health is paramount. Individuals with pre-existing conditions like high blood pressure should exercise caution when watching particularly stressful events.
Mr. Abdullahi’s colleagues and friends remember him fondly and mourn his sudden loss. He was laid to rest on Thursday morning according to Islamic rites.
Let this serve as a message to prioritize health and well-being, especially during emotionally charged situations. While we celebrate victories, let us do so responsibly and with our health in mind.
