Four suspected kidnappers have been arrested by the Anambra State Police Command in connection with criminal activities in Ihiala Local Government Area.
The suspects—identified as Chimezie Ezebuo, Chinaza Ndimani, Chinecherem Okafor, and Nzube Azubuike—were apprehended on Thursday, April 10, 2025, around 2:53 p.m., according to a statement issued on Friday by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.
The suspects, all male and residents of Okohia in Ihiala, were reportedly found with several mobile phones and SIM cards allegedly used to issue threats to their victims. The police say these actions caused unrest within the area and disrupted ongoing efforts to maintain peace.
Ikenga noted that the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation. He also disclosed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement in the alleged criminal operation.
“The command remains firm in its commitment to safeguarding lives and property across the state and will ensure that those responsible for creating panic or disturbing public peace face the full weight of the law,” the statement read.
The police also commended the residents of Ihiala for their cooperation, noting that community support has played a significant role in restoring calm to the area.
“There has been notable improvement in security across Ihiala, and we thank the people for their vigilance and support in exposing criminal elements,” the statement added.
The command assured the public that it would continue to work closely with communities to enhance safety and ensure offenders are brought to justice.
