In yet another episode of “wahala no dey finish for Nigeria,” the Ondo State Police Command has embarked on a puzzling manhunt for a middle-aged woman named Mrs. Tayelolu Solomon. Why, you ask? Well, she’s allegedly committed the ultimate pestle crime – killing her husband, Mr. Felix Solomon, in Ondo town.
This curious incident unfolded in the Government Reserved Area of the community when Tayelolu reportedly decided to turn her husband’s peaceful nap into a pestle-powered siesta. Now, we’re not talking about seasoning a soup here; she apparently whacked her 67-year-old husband with a pestle while he was in dreamland.
But wait, there’s more to this quirky tale. Before this pestle pandemonium, the couple had been nursing a crisis that just wouldn’t quit. The son of the deceased, Ibukun Solomon, was an unwitting eyewitness to this sad tale. He confirmed that his mother, in a fit of what one might call “pestle rage,” struck his father’s head while he snoozed and then decided to make a run for it.
In Ibukun’s words, “My mother killed my father with a pestle in my presence and took to her heels. She used the pestle to hit his head when he was asleep. When my mother saw that my father was already unconscious, she hid the pestle at the back of our house and ran away.”
Now, it’s not every day you hear about someone using kitchen utensils as murder weapons. It’s safe to say emotions ran pretty high in this household. The late Mr. Solomon was rushed to the hospital, but, alas, he couldn’t make his way out of this one, and he passed away. His body is now in the morgue.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, chimed in to confirm the peculiar incident. She assured us that they’re on the hunt for the suspect. According to her, “The incident happened last week when the couple had a fight, but the suspect is currently at large. We are already on her trail.”
In moments like these, it makes you wonder why some folks let their emotions take control. I mean, if you can’t stand the marriage heat, maybe it’s best to get out of the marriage.
