The Federal University Dutsin-Ma; FUDMA, in Katsina State has suspended six persons over the suspected murder of a 200-level student of the institution.
This news was revealed through a statement issued by Malam Habib Aminu-Umar, the spokesperson of the university and had been made available to newsmen in Katsina on Sunday, October 1st.
Recall that the State Police Command had earlier announced that six students of the institution had been arrested in connection with the death of Abubakar Nasir-Barda, the 200 level-student.
The University authorities had on behalf of its Senate, staff and students expressed regret over the unfortunate incident.
“The sudden death of a 200-level Computer Science and Information Technology, from an unfortunate altercation over a female student will not be tolerated.”
“The University Management has been active since the incident occurred to ensure that the culprits are brought to book and that justice is served.”
The management upon getting wind of the incident swiftly instituted an Interim ad-hoc committee to investigate the case and inform the management on any developments.
A preliminary report submitted to the management on Saturday, September 30, by the committee had revealed that the incident had occurred outside the university campus.
“The matter has already been taken over by Police, and it has led to the arrest and suspension of six students as confirmed by the Police official press statement,” the spokesperson, Aminu-Umar had said.”
“While the police investigations are ongoing, the university management wishes to assure the public, especially the university community, that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that justice was served.”
