A police post situated on Olayiwola Close, in the Oregun area of Ikeja, Lagos State, was set ablaze on Monday morning, May 29 by incensed youths. As of the time of writing this report, the incentive behind the attack could not be ascertained but it was gathered that a policeman, who had sustained an injury on the head, was rushed to the emergency centre at the toll gate along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway for immediate treatment.
Additional reports revealed that while the station was on fire, officials of the Lagos State Fire Service had been contacted and mobilized to the scene to restore the situation.
The fire was put out but parts of the building of the police post were affected. No weapon was stolen.Meanwhile, while confirming the attack, the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, when contacted, revealed that an investigation into the case had begun, although no suspect had been arrested yet.
