According to a statement issued to the media by Muhammad Garba, the state commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje has contributed N250 million to help victims of the recent fire catastrophe at the Singer and Kurmi markets in the state.
The donation is intended to provide immediate assistance to affected traders who lost their belongings in the fire.
The governor will hand over the cheques to the presidents of the traders’ associations in Kano’s Government House. Ganduje offered his sympathies to the victims and urged individuals and groups to help the shopkeepers in any manner they could.
Adamu Abdullahi, one of the impacted traders, expressed appreciation to the governor and the state government for their aid and expressed optimism that the committee formed to assess the situation would suggest extra assistance.
