The Red Cross has declared Gaza “hell on earth” and warned that its hospital will run out of supplies soon. This critical statement was made by Red Cross President Mirjana Spoljaric in Geneva. She said people in Gaza are now struggling without basic needs like water, electricity, and food. “We are now finding ourselves in a situation that I have to describe as hell on earth,” she told Reuters.
Since March 2, no aid has entered Gaza because Israel blocked humanitarian trucks. On March 18, Israel resumed its military operation. Israeli officials claimed Hamas used the ceasefire to rebuild. However, Hamas denied this. According to Israel’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, 25,000 aid trucks had entered during the truce.
Hospital Supplies Are Running Out
The Red Cross warned that its field hospital in Gaza will soon run out of essential supplies. “For six weeks, nothing has come in,” Spoljaric said. “We will, in a couple of weeks’ time, run out of supplies that we need to keep the hospital going.” The World Health Organization confirmed that antibiotics and blood bags are almost gone. Out of 36 hospitals in Gaza, only 22 are barely functioning.
Aid Workers Also in Danger
The Red Cross said it is risky for aid workers to move around. In March, 15 humanitarian workers were found in a mass grave in southern Gaza. Eight were from the Palestinian Red Crescent. The UN and the Red Crescent accused Israeli forces of killing them. The Israeli army said it had acted out of fear after seeing six Hamas fighters nearby.
Red Cross Demands Urgent Ceasefire
The Red Cross has again called for an urgent ceasefire. Spoljaric said a ceasefire is needed to bring in aid and to free remaining hostages. The war began in October 2023, when Hamas-led militants killed 1,200 people in Israel and took 250 hostages. Since then, over 50,800 Palestinians have died, and much of Gaza is in ruins.
Gaza Hell on Earth as Red Cross Warns Hospital Will Run Out of Supplies
The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is worsening fast. The Red Cross’s warning should not be ignored. Without urgent action, Gaza will face complete collapse. The world must listen before it’s too late.
