Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, has revelaed that the much-anticipated student loan scheme may finally launch in two or three weeks time.
Gbajabiamila had made this disclosure when a delegation from the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, led by its President, Lucky Emonefe, paid him a visit at the State House, in Abuja.
He urged Nigerian students to support the scheme, highlighting that the scheme was aimed at ensuring access to quality education for all Nigerian students, irrespective of their socioeconomic background.
In his words:
“Mr President is very determined that we see it through successfully. We have hopes that it will be launched in the next two to three weeks; currentky, we are trying to dot the I(s) and cross the T(s) before it is launched.”
Since President Tinubu signed the Student Loan Scheme into law in June 2023, its launch has suffered some setback.
