The governor of Ondo state has released a statement stating his displeasure and disbelief in the aspirations of the current CBN governor; Godwin Emiefele to become a president of Nigeria.
The Governor says that the CBN governor should disengage from this ambition or resign from his position as the CBN governor.
“It is incontrovertible that Mr. Emefiele enjoys a constitutionally protected right to belong to any group… It is, however, difficult to imagine that a person who occupies the exalted & sensitive office of the Governor of the CBN will be this brazen in actualizing his ambition”
He admonishes Emiefele to resign from the office to pursue his ambition because the 1999 constitution, public service rules, and CBN act say that it is wrong to combine partisan politics with his office.
He ends his statement by calling it “a joke taken too far.”
