The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the compilation of results from the recently concluded governorship supplementary election, and Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has urged residents to maintain calm and peace.
At a press conference held on Sunday in Yola, the governor praised INEC’s national office for acting quickly to prevent the announcement of Aishatu Binani as the next governor-elect.
Even though just 11 of the 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) had been collated, he expressed confidence that the electoral umpire would finally pronounce the winner of the election.
He praised the state’s security forces and citizens for their bravery and maturity throughout the tense time, emphasizing that nobody would violate your democratic rights.
Aishatu Binani of the APC was declared the victor of the rerun poll, according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), which quotes Mr. Hudu Yunusa, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in charge of Adamawa State.
