Seven months have passed since Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State promised to pay some members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) N245,000 for their zeal and commitment. This promise is yet to be fulfilled.

Kefas who had promised corps members serving in public schools across the state N245,000 as their welfare package through the state Commissioner for Information and Re-orientation has been no show.

If the welfare package is broken down, each corps members would get N50,000 as medical allowance, N75,000 as housing allowance and N120,000 as stipend.

The package had been approved for all corps members serving in the state as part of Kefa’s efforts to improve education in the state.

Meanwhile, the state commissioner of information, Barrister Zainab Usman Jalingo, had in reaction, said that all the corps members whose names were submitted got paid, with the exception of those who had passed out at the time.

He added that there were plans to pay those in that category. He concluded the statement with telling those who were not captured to report to the NYSC coordinator so that they could be captured.
