Tragedy struck on Thursday, December 5th, in Taraba State as armed men attacked the convoy of Governor Agbu Kefas along the Kente Road in the Wukari Local Government Area, leaving the governor’s sister, Atsi Kefas, being accidentally shot amidst the chaos by a police escort.
The governor’s mother, Jumai, was in the convoy at the time of the attack. Troops swiftly intervened, rescuing the family and evacuating them with the help of an air ambulance. Atsi Kefas was rushed to the hospital for urgent medical care, though her condition is yet to be disclosed.
The security operatives investigating the incident recovered the attackers’ vehicle, which contained an empty magazine and passenger luggage. Efforts to uncover the identities of the gunmen are ongoing.
