The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde’s convoy was allegedly involved in a fatal auto crash, killing one of his drivers while three others sustained various degrees of injury.
According to The Nation, the accident occurred when the Governor was coming back to Ibadan from Saki where he had attended a town hall meeting with members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, ahead of his re-election bid in the 2023 general elections.
The Governor’s driver, identified as Ramon Mustapha, had died on the spot, according to reports after he was flung when his vehicle landed after spinning several times.
Also, reports had it that the driver might have been saved if he used his seat belt.
A source, allegedly in the convoy, had told the newspaper that the driver had hit and smashed his head during the accident, leading to his immediate death
The driver’s remains have been buried at his residence in Amuloko, Ibadan on Wednesday, December 7 according to his religious Islamic rites.
