Bello Matawalle, the governor of Zamfara State, has called for the arrest of any individual rejecting the old naira notes in the state.
Matawalle had made the directive during the swearing-in ceremony of new High Court Judges and appointed special advisers at the Government House, Chamber II in Gusau. According to him, the old currency notes remained legal tender until the final verdict of the case instituted by the three Northern Governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara States at the Supreme Court against the CBN and the federal government to extend the validity of old 200-, 500- and 1000-naira notes.
The case’s final ruling will take place on Wednesday, 15 February.
