Gunmen attack a Police Patrol team, Two killed

Some unknown Gunmen ambushed and attacked a police patrol team in Kogi State.
Williams Aya, the State’s police spokesperson in a statement revealed that the incident occurred around the Agbaja road, where they ambushed and attacked the police patrol team when they arrived to carry out their normal routine patrol.
According to Aya, the police also engaged their hoodlums in a gun duel, but unfortunately, they lost two of their men, before the re-enforcement could arrive. A team of tactical operatives was immediately dispatched by the State Commissioner of Police to the area to track the whereabouts of the unknown gunmen and arrest them
The Commissioner of Police has issued a further directive to the Deputy Commissioner to ensure that adequate Investigation is carried out on the matter.
“However, the command lost two of its personnel during the gun duel with the hoodlums as they fled before the re-enforcement team arrived,” Aya stated.
He added, “The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Police Command, CP Akeem A. Yusuf, immediately deployed a team of tactical operatives to the area while trailing the hoodlums to apprehend and bring them to book.
“The commissioner was said to have further directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Investigation, to commence investigation into the incident.
The Commissioner of Police, further enjoined the residents of the area to assist the police with whatever information they had, that will lead them to the hideouts of these criminals
“The Commissioner of Police also uses this medium to call on the people of the area to assist the police with credible information on the identity of the hoodlums to enable the Command to curtail their acts of criminality.”
The police are not immune to attacks, as they are the major targets in every incident, so it is a prerequisite that they are prepared at every time in case of an unknown ambush.
