Gunmen terrorizing Anambra State have invaded one of the training camps of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The incident took place around 5.35 pm on Thursday, February 17. This has been confirmed by the Police spokesperson in the state, Tochukwu Ikenga who made the revelation in a statement.

According to Ikenga, the victims were rescued by joint security team operatives who had barred the gunmen from abducting or inflicting harm to them.

Recall that Anambra and other states in the Southeast have constantly witnessed increasing attacks on its security agents, government facilities, and prominent individuals after IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s arrest.

Incidentally, IPOB has denied allegations of being responsible for the attacks in the Southeast zone.
