At least four individuals, including a pregnant woman, were on Tuesday, January 10,
killed in Eziani, a community in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State,
Nigeria’s South-east during an invasion by gunmen.
This incident was confirmed by a resident of the community who claimed that the attack began around 1 am.
Findings report had it that the gunmen shot sporadically when they besieged the
community, killing the four victims.
Tochukwu Ikenga, a DSP and the Anambra State police spokesperson confirmed the
incident in a statement on Tuesday.
The bodies of the victims have been recovered, according to Mr. Ikenga and the victims included three men and one woman. But in DSP Ikenga’s report, he did not indicate if the dead woman had been pregnant.
“Preliminary information reveals that the criminals were armed with AK-47 rifles and had shot at individuals indiscriminately and unprovoked, unfortunately, bullets hit four unarmed civilian populaces,” Mr. Ikenga said.
Meanwhile, the remains of the victims have been deposited in a morgue for
preservation.
