Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci has at long last been certified by the Guinness World Records for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
In a tweet confirming the certification, a GWR Adjudicator, Mark, had announced that Ms Baci had broken Lata Tondon’s record of 87hrs 45mins. The new record now stands at 93hrs 11mins as against the
100hrs Baci had aimed for.
According to GWR, seven hours had been deducted from Baci’s final total because she had erroneously taken extra minutes for one of her rest breaks earlier on in the attempt.
Recall that for this task, Baci was allowed a five-minute rest break for every hour of cooking activity.
These rest breaks could also be accumulated if not taken and they were the only times Baci could use the bathroom or sleep during the attempt.
One of the very important rules Baci had to abide in the course of breaking the record was that all food items had to be eaten after cooking. To this achieve this stipulation, Baci had invited the Nigerian public to come and eat her freshly made meals. All the leftover food was as well donated to Festus Fajemilo Foundation, a disability-focused, not-for-profit organization in Nigeria.
