PSG’s star defender and Moroccan International, Achraf Hakimi, has hit out at the conditions under which Sunday’s French Super Cup match was played. The 23-year-old felt the match was an uphill task for the side.
PSG were stunned by their Ligue 1 rivals Lens at Lens’ home ground, Stadium De la Meinau, on Sunday, and Hakimi pointed to conditions not being conducive for a fair match.
Hakimi, whose miss in the last few minutes proved costly, added in his post-match interview, “we gave our all to win, and we controlled the course of the match entirely, but there were circumstances beyond our control.”

The Morocco defender decried playing against the backdrop of partisan support of the opponent and away from home. “Playing on a pitch like this, not neutral, and without our fans. We should have played in the same conditions. Today it felt like a French league match. These are not excuses; I am trying not to blame the referee and the organizers.”
He also mentioned the team had a poor preparation.
” Some players missed training and arrived late, and we played a match on Wednesday(European Super cup ), and we needed rest.” However, he rounded up, stating the team must get on with it: “ We have to keep working for theupcoming matches”.
