Harry Kane nets a brace on his 100th cap as England overcome Finland 2-0 in the UEFA Nations League Group B2. It was a win that stretched England’s unbeaten matches against Finland to 12, now at ten wins and two draws, and gave them a second successive group win.

Up against a Finland side 59 places below them in the world rankings, England bossed possession as the visitors retreated into a deep defensive shape. With few clear opportunities created, Kane was the main threat, testing goalkeeper Lukas Hradecky with a fierce drive—the hosts’ solitary effort on target in the opening period.

Further trouble down the right flank was caused by Bukayo Saka, whose goal was also ruled out by VAR after Kane’s header was judged to be offside. That frustration continued into the second half as Hradecky denied efforts from both Kane and Anthony Gordon.

Finally, just shy of the hour mark, Kane broke the impasse with a powerful drive past the Finnish keeper. The impetus was now with England, and they started playing with much more assuredness. Kane sealed his brace in the 76th minute with a neat conversion off a lay-off by debutant Noni Madueke.

Kane’s 68th international goal sealed an easy win for England, who are continuing their strong Nations League campaign.
