Rivers Hoopers have qualified for the Federal Ministry of Youth And Sport (FMYSD) final 8 with a 64-48 win over Police Baton on Saturday night in Abuja.
The three-time champions of the Nigeria Basketball League win against Police Baton is their second win in two games. Rivers Hoopers were more clinical on the free throw line, scoring 21 out of 28 after making just 5 of 20 points from behind.
Highlight of the game was Hoopers talisman, Owen Oriakhi scoring high 16 points, Owen scored 2 out of 2 throws and also made 2 three pointers in just 25 minutes of the game, Hoopers got another 10 poinys from idikibiebuma Ogan’s show of class with another 5 rebounds.
However, Gombe Bulls were handed a win in their first game after Lagos Islander failed to show up at the venue, the bulls continued their perfect run with a huge win of 80-45 against Benue Braves with 33 points coming from the prolific combination of Bolaji Emilagba and Mike Okiki to secure a spot in the semi final.
The win for the KingsMen means they will play their last Group A game against Gombe Bulls on Sunday night, to decide on who will top the group as both teams already qualified for the semis.
