Rivers State Police Command officers have arrested a suspect named Emeka, who allegedly led the gang rape of Pastor’s wife, Mrs. Chigbewejim Steward, mother of two, resulting in her death in the Abarikpo community, Ahoada East Local Government Area.
After quarreling with Mrs. Steward earlier that day, the suspect and his gang broke into her home at midnight on February 12, 2023, kidnapped her, and took her to an unknown location. The suspect reportedly fled the community upon learning that the police were pursuing him. Lawyer Steward, the deceased husband and an Assistant Pastor with the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Abarikpo, confirmed the suspect’s arrest while speaking to newsmen on Thursday.
Mr Steward said, “Yes Emeka, masterminded the death of my wife after he quarreled with her that my wife called him a wicked man. He told my wife you will see wickedness today. “And that night around 1 am February 12, 2023, those bad boys came to my house and broke the door and took my wife away.
“My wife was five months pregnant. Emeka and his gang raped and strangled her to death. The police arrested him on Thursday. Now he is in police custody. I have gone to the station to give my statement. I want the government to intervene so that justice will prevail. I thank the police for their effort in arresting these bad boys”.
“Emeka and his gang are members of a cult group ‘In Iceland’. My wife was kidnapped, and they had taken her to their hideout, where the gang raped and killed her.
“My wife’s corpse was discovered with multiple bruises and bleeding from her vagina close to a fishing pond several hours after she was abducted.”
The deceased’s husband pleads with the government to intervene so that justice would prevail.
