The House of Representatives will hold a march on Monday to commemorate the 2024 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The march, which will start at the National Assembly and end at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, aims to raise awareness and demand action against gender-based violence (GBV).
Spokesman Akintunde Rotimi said the event would involve over 1,000 participants, including Representatives and members of the public. The march will conclude with the submission of a petition to the Inspector General of Police, calling for stronger measures to protect vulnerable groups and hold perpetrators accountable.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the House, aligned with its Legislative Agenda, to combat GBV throughout the 16 Days of Activism. Activities include Members wearing orange sashes on November 26 to symbolize solidarity, a strategic meeting with State House Speakers on December 9
