Veteran Nollywood actress and evangelist Eucharia Anunobi has spoken candidly about the challenges she faced during her marriage to Charles Ekwu, revealing that she carried the financial responsibilities throughout their relationship.
The 60-year-old actress made the disclosure while speaking on an episode of The Honest Bunch podcast, where she reflected on what she described as the difficult realities of the union.
According to Anunobi, she was responsible for all household expenses during the marriage, despite believing her husband would support her.

“Charles, if you’re listening to this. I am not saying the lie. I am not lying against you. He convinced me. I held onto the marriage, believing that it was alright, we would be fine,” she said.
She also explained that she had overlooked the concerns raised by her parents about the relationship before the marriage.
“He’s the same person who said he would be there with me through thick and thin. He’s the same person my parent said ‘Eucharia, this guy is not it for you.’ I was the one paying the rent, I was the one doing everything. Charles never brought one naira. When I started the battle of my life, Charles turned,” she said.
The actress also spoke emotionally about the death of her only son, Raymond Ekwu, linking the tragedy to what she described as medical negligence during treatment.
“The student doctor was asked to do a blood transfusion, but he did a blood extraction. I removed three pints of my son’s blood,” she said.
Anunobi married Ekwu in 2000, and their marriage ended six years later. Their son Raymond, who battled complications associated with Sickle Cell Disease, died in August 2017.
