Xavi Hernadez, Barcelona’s head coach has expressed his sadness over the departure of Aubameyang to Chelsea.
If we can recall, The blues have been on the neck of Barcelona to sell Aubameyang to them, several reports circulated that Barcelona isn’t ready to sell the player, as Aubameyang himself isn’t interested in moving to Chelsea.
The blues finally got what they want, as Aubameyang joins Chelsea in a contract worth €10m.
According to Xavi, he feels terrible because Aubameyang has contributed a lot to the club, he’s been an awesome player both on and off the pitch. Xavi described him as a jewel as he always trained with happiness. Aubameyang is a player he will love to have on his team. They had to let him go due to some issues.
He further added that he feels bad to lose such a worthy player to another club, as he was a good example to the entire club and players.
“I feel bad because he helped us a lot,” said Xavi during his pre-match press conference on Friday.”
“He is an example on and off the pitch, he made a big difference, just look at his numbers. As a person, he is a jewel, always training with a smile on his face. It’s a shame because these kinds of players you want to have in your squad but it was a good opportunity for him and the club as well.
“We needed to put the pieces of the puzzle together, we are all happy but I feel bad as a coach to lose a player like Aubameyang. He was an example for the entire club and all”
