According to reports, the Governor of Kogi state and erstwhile council member of the All-Progressives Congress, Yahaya Bello, has said that he would help the People’s Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar if wins the upcoming 2023 elections if certain conditions were met.
This proposal was tabled before the PDP chairman, Iyorchia Ayu during a recent meeting between the members of the two parties. In it, the Kogi state governor promised his ability to deliver the party most votes cast in his state but in exchange, he said PDP would have to withdraw their support from Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan who it must be recalled is the Kogi Central senatorial candidate and instead cast it in favor of Adamu Attah.
However, several reports have emerged that cast serious doubts over the ability of the Governor to uphold these promises. He is not in favor of his own party’s presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and sources allege that these circumstances have caused him to feel slighted and bypassed.
Whatever the truth, reports have yet to indicate whether the governor has received a reply.
