The late Former Efcc Chairman of Nigeria (2012/2015), Ibrahim Larmode, born on the 20th of December, 1962, in Mubi, Adamawa State, and attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in Kaduna State where he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology in 1984 has been confirmed dead at the age of 61 at an Egyptian hospital where he was receiving treatments. Reports indicate that Lamorde passed away on Sunday morning in Egypt, where he had been receiving medical treatment. His death was confirmed by close associates, though the specific cause has not been revealed.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale described Lamorde’s death as sudden and shocking. He noted that Lamorde was a dedicated and courageous anti-corruption fighter who served the nation with focus.
“He will be sorely missed both at the EFCC and the nation at large. The Commission prays for the repose of his soul and comfort for his family, the EFCC and the entire nation,” the EFCC spokesman’s statement added.
He was appointed as the acting chairman of the anti-graft agency after Farida Waziri by President Goodluck Johnathan on the 23rd of November, 2011.He served as the chairman of the EFCC until November 9, 2015, when former President Muhammadu Buhari replaced him with Ibrahim Magu.
