Senator Samuel Anyawu, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate in Imo State, has denied a viral video of him stepping down ahead of tomorrow’s scheduled election.
According to Anyanwu, the viral video was faked to manipulate and deceive the electorate in the state.
In a statement released by the Director of his campaign council, Dumebi Ifeanyichukwu, on Friday, November 10, Anyanwu had appealed to the people of the state to ignore the fake viral video.
He went ahead to link the fake video to mischief makers.
The statement read:
“The SamJones Governorship Campaign Council is forced to address a malicious video making rounds, falsely claiming that our respected and admired candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu, has retired from the gubernatorial race.
“We clearly declare that this information is categorically FALSE. After a meticulous examination of the video, it became obvious that it was heavily modified with manipulated audio to deceive the public.”
Anyanwu will be contesting against the incumbent governor, Hope Uzodinma, for the governorship seat tomorrow, November 11.
