INEC Begins Distribution of Materials for Ondo Governorship Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially kicked off the distribution of sensitive materials to various local government areas in Ondo State, gearing up for the much-anticipated governorship election on November 16. Because we all know how much “smooth” elections are in Nigeria, this step was carried out at the premises of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Alagbaka, Akure, with party agents keeping a watchful eye and armed policemen on guard. To make things even more interesting, a fleet of commercial buses, hired by the Commission, was also present to shuttle materials.

With 17 political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their candidate Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with Agboola Ajayi, all taking part, the election is set to be intriguing . The political contestants, after much posturing, even signed a Peace Accord in Akure, making it clear that violence will be the last thing on their minds. But we all know how “peaceful” Nigerian elections can get?

So, the countdown to November 16 begins, and Ondo State’s residents are about to make their decision.
