Prof Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, has cautioned officials of the Peoples Democratic Party to refrain from maligning his character in the media or risk being sued in court for libel.
Recall that yesterday, Friday, March 10, PDP had called for Yakubu’s resignation for reportedly manipulating last month’s presidential election results.
The opposition party had additionally charged the police and the Department of State Services, DSS, to investigate the INEC chairman.
Meanwhile, the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, had said that the PDP should go to court and present the alleged evidence it claimed to have rather than subjecting the process to a media trial.
